With the start of early voting in Indiana, Common Cause is, again, offering Hoosier voters assistance to ensure they can cast a ballot and their ballots will be counted.
The nonprofit, nonpartisan voter-advocacy organization has launched its 2026 Election Protection program in Indiana. Trained nonpartisan volunteers are being deployed to support voters on the ground and the Election Protection hotline is taking calls from any voter who has a question or encounters a problem in the voting process.
“Every eligible Hoosier voter deserved to have the information and support they need to cast their ballot freely and fairly,” Julia Vaughn, executive director of Common Cause Indiana, said in a press release. “Our friendly, nonpartisan experts are here to help voters navigate the process, answer questions, and solve problems if they arise.”

The hotline connects voters with trained legal volunteers from the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, who can answer questions, provide voting information and help address any problems that occur at any point during the voting process.

The hotline is active now and will be available through Election Day, Nov. 3. If voters get rolled over to voicemail, they are encouraged to leave a message, and a volunteer will contact them.

“Voters should save 866-OUR-VOTE in their phones now and know that if they need help making their voice heard this election, Common Cause and the Election Protection coalition have their back,” Vaughn said.

The Election Protection program is part of the country’s largest nonpartisan voter protection effort, which Common Cause has co-led for more than 20 years.
