  • Law degree with honors from Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, IN

  • Administratively, Judge Dudley has worked with colleagues to put in place electronic filing of court documents making Madison County the fifth county in Indiana to make the transition. This transition will make the court more transparent as public court documents will be digital and searchable.

  •  In an effort to improve the experience for jurors he edited a juror handbook which provides helpful information to new jurors in Madison County. He has also spoken publicly encouraging those called to jury duty to look forward to the process.

  • Judge Dudley worked for 24 years as a civil litigator representing clients with a variety of economic and educational backgrounds. Seventeen of those years were in Madison County working with Max Howard who taught the importance of thinking of the needs of the client even if it requires ignoring personal interests, to be present to clients in the office and respond quickly to requests, and to continually maintain knowledge of relevant law.

  • With the assistance of his partners, Max Howard and Lisa DeLey, Judge Dudley oversaw the financial aspect of his law practice. Because of his experience as a partner of a small business, Judge Dudley is known for his fiscally conservative approach to office management.

Political Experience :

  • Since taking office, Judge Dudley has worked toward creating routine procedures to ensure consistency in sentencing regardless of race, sex or socio-economic circumstance. He has also worked with other judges to encourage the probation department to use evidence based practices within the probation system to better assist offenders with reintegration into the community.

  • Beyond the criminal cases, 80% of the cases Judge Dudley handles are family law, probate, collections, and civil issues.  Often the crisis or dispute bringing the parties to court may be a person’s first experience with the judicial system.

  • Since taking office, Judge Dudley has implemented mediation as a first step in resolving conflict, reducing cost and improving communication between parties in family law cases.
